The Blog
kristarella.com started as a personal blog called This and That. It’s still a personal blog, but with less random reports and whinging and more focus on my interests. They include (in approximate order of writing frequency) Thesis, WordPress, photography, graphics, web design, Christianity, blogging, computers, science, television, movies, music, games.
The blog has been active since December 2005. I find writing about what I read, think and do therapeutic. I also hope to improve my grammar and writing skills through blogging and reading excellent blogs. It was through this blog that I became familiar with XHTML and CSS, and more recently (and gradually) PHP.
In February 2008 This and that changed name to kristarella.com. I felt kristarella was the name I’d been building for the last three years, where as This and that was just another example of my stellar creativity when it comes to naming things (if we’re not careful my first child will be called Baby!).

The Photoblog
I started the photoblog, originally called The Naked Eye, when I began taking photos with my husband’s Canon IXUS 50. It was a great little camera. Good for point and shoot with a few fun options. I started to crave a bit more from my photography so I bought a Nikon D50.
I’ve had the Nikon D50 for about 4 years now. It’s still serving me well.
I got a 50mm f/1.8 lens for my birthday a couple of years ago. I recommend one of these for any dSLR owner. It’s brilliant! I barely take the 50mm off my camera, but I do occasionally to use my Nikon 24mm f/2, or Tamron 70–300mm.
