The other side

This is one of those “oops” photos when I realised I had left the ISO up at 1600 from the night before. Funny how I always do that on a cruise: I did it on the way to Rottnest and I did it on the way to Alcatraz. Luckily I realised a lot sooner on the way to Rottnest than I did on the way to Alcatraz… I still like this photo, even if it is a bit grainer than it needs to be.

It’s looking out to the south side of the Swan River in Perth.

  • Aperture: f/18
  • Camera: NIKON D300S
  • Focal length: 24 mm
  • ISO: 1600
  • Shutter speed: 1/1250 s

Excellent photo. I love how the buildings reflect off the water. Looking forward to more of your photos.

Good to see your work. I’m jealous for the seascapes you have at hand.

Try one day a similar picture at f8, ISO 200, ND8 or NDX400 filter, tripod… and play with shutter speed to get a proper exposure. The effect could be dramatic.

Thanks for the suggestion Mihai ;-) Unfortunately I live on the other side of the country to where this shot was taken, but if I go back there I will keep it in mind.
