The allure of Starbucks

Starbucks isn’t quite as popular in Australia as it is in America. Possibly because there aren’t as many of them, but I think it’s because you can find good and/or better coffee at lots of places.

I haven’t had too many non-Starbucks coffees in America. One was at the restaurant we went to for our anniversary – it was great! The next morning I had one on Fulton St. It was disgusting! It was from a cute little cafe on the corner of 8th (I think), which in Australia would be a shoe-in for good coffee. Sadly, I had to throw it away; even with sugar it was undrinkable.

So, I bought a caramel macchiato from Starbucks and I realised that Starbucks is like a security blanket.
It’s not the best blanket you’ll ever have (doesn’t even come close to the best coffee I’ve had), but it’s warm, familiar, comfortable – you know what to expect.

I had a bagel and a vanilla latte this morning. The latte was ok, the bagel was delicious!
