Birds’ sense of direction
I saw the headline Study suggests birds can truly navigate.
It cracked me up.
It’s cool that birds can navigate over 1000 kilometers, but when they fly into church in the middle of the service they can’t find their way back out… and poop on the projector screen.

I remember once last year at university, birds kept flying into the student union building and not being able to get out again, so the poor caretaker had to spend half his life chasing after them!

Heh, yeah. It was a great mystery how our magpie got out of the church.
They had put a possum cage with food and water in it to try to catch it and get it out. I assume that it worked.
Last winter our building at uni was full of bogong moths. It was disgusting. It seems we don’t have a caretaker because they didn’t go anywhere and neither did the stains created by people smacking them across the floors and walls!
