It's never as good as reading the real thing though. If your looking to get to grips with PHP, I would recomend the sites: <a href="http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp" rel="nofollow">W3 Schools</a> and <a href="http://www.tizag.com/phpT/" rel="nofollow">TiZag</a>. Once you have read those your best bet is to read the PHP Manual, preferably twice. I also enjoy reading the <a href="http://www.w3.org/TR/" rel="nofollow">technical reports</a> at the W3C when I have time. I also have <a href="http://www.mutinydesign.co.uk/scripts/complete-introduction-to-search-engine-optimisation---2/" rel="nofollow">guide to search engine optimisation</a>.
