We attended my father-in-law’s wedding last night. It was quite lovely. Is there some kind of unspoken air in second weddings or is it just me? I feel like the question “What makes this one different?” hangs in the air. Other than that it was great, the weather was perfect, there was plenty to drink, the food was nice (perhaps a little slow in coming out). Everyone was very nice and the speeches were quite funny. My father-in-law said lovely things about his new wife and everyone was really happy for them because they’re happy. I’m happy for them too, but I’ll admit that I thought “I hope my husband isn’t saying those things about someone else in 30 years time.
They’ve been together for six years now and lived together for about four, so it was very nice that they got to this point, that they wanted to be married.
I’ve been really tired today, all the excitement yesterday I suppose… and the champagne. I managed to finish a graphics assignment in which I had to design a graphic for home, love, danger, comfort or family according to principles of design that we wrote about in our previous assignment and without using any of the obvious images – so no house for a home, no heart for love etc. It seemed impossible and I’m not sure that I’ve really fulfilled all of the dos and donts, but I’ve done what I can. I made an icon of an armchair for comfort.
Have you ever heard that myth that if you sneeze 7 times in a row you die? I think it’s something to do with your heart stopping when you sneeze. Anyway, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s not true. I sneezed about 20 times in a row this morning, apart from being extremely annoying and unpleasant I’m obviously not dead.
I’m cooking a lamb roast for dinner, I hope it turns out okay because I’m cooking it before we go to church for a little less time than I normally would and then doing the rest when I get home. It smells great at the moment! I have some really nice Shiraz at that we’ll drink with it. Anyone want to come over for dinner?
