Hearts

I was going to post this this morning, but strange things were happening. I learnt some handy things during this creation, largely thanks to Tomas Arad’s drawing, which I used but pretty much remade. Mainly I learnt about blurring edges and clipping objects. I like the clipping objects one, you can make a pattern or a texture or anything really and then you can clip it to the shape of another object. In doing so I managed to confuse Inkscape at some point and one of my shadows kept disappearing and reappearing but not exporting to PNG format. In the end I just deleted it and remade it.

Sadly I had to miss a birthday party that I was looking forward to tonight because of a sore back. The only satisfying part of the night was after resting long enough to be able to sit in my computer chair (which I’ll need to leave very soon) I could figure out the shadow thing.

broken heart

I was originally going to write something like “it’s not broken, it’s grunge” but in the end this drawing wasn’t grungy, it was rather clean. I’m haven’t quite got grunge down yet. So instead there are three that say:
still good
all better…
still worth loving

Don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not suffering from a broken heart. It was a theme I picked up from someone else. I found some other amazing artworks in my search for ideas and techniques.

That shadow thing is cool. You seem to be having fun experimenting. I hope your back feels better for good soon!:)

Some of your stories do express longing for healing, or show how time heals (somewhat).

Cheers, it was the shadow around the edge of the heart that was the problem, the one trying to make it look rounded. The dropped one was easy to do but I think it has a nice effect on the whole thing.
