Steve Irwin died today. No joke, he was killed by a stingray barb while filming a documentary in waters off the Queensland coast.

When my husband told me I thought it was a joke. Not as shocking and incredible as when Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed’s death caused dropped jaws world-wide but still very unexpected. Given his line of work, his love for big dangerous animals, people joked about his death but never really thought it would happen. Sadly it has.

I hope that his wife and children can have peace from media and in their hearts to grieve the loss of their loved one.

Wow- I’ve been watching a lot of TV the past few days but I haven’t watched the news today- I loved him up until the little incident with his baby a few years ago. So sad.

I too thought there was a punch line when I was told. It’s so weird that he passed away. I’m sad for his wife and small children. :(

Sad but he’ll be remembered for that controversial baby incident couple of years ago where he lost quite a number of his fanbase and popularity. However, he could still draw an audience. Still am pretty shocked by the news.

Genuine wrote a nice post about him that I think you’d appreciate.

It’s a shame that that’s what he’ll be remembered for. He was (ugh, past tense) a seasoned croc handler, I really don’t think he would have put his baby in danger. I never saw his movie, I’m a bit intruiged to watch it now though – weird huh?
